Welcome to Strand Book Store, New York City’s legendary home of 18 Miles of new, used and rare books. Since 1927.
Established in 1927.
With $600 and his personal book collection, Benjamin Bass opened the Strand Book Store on New York’s legendary Book Row in 1927. Book Row housed 48 bookstores from 1890 to 1960 and was located on Fourth Avenue between Union Square and Astor Place. The Strand, named after the famous publishing street in London, is the sole survivor from those days. For more about the Strand’s History, visit: www.strandbooks.com/aboutus
