Established in 2000.
Toy Tokyo started in 2000 on 2nd Avenue right off of 7 Street, and quickly established itself as the collectors store offering one of the best selection of designer vinyl toys, and Japanese Kaiju pieces. Also, just down the street Toy Tokyo also had a gallery space where featured artist showcased their work. In 2010 Toy Tokyo moved a couple of blocks down to s street level shop at its current location on 91 2nd Avenue. Initially the downstairs was a gallery space that once again hosted shows featuring artists such as Shepard Fairey, Ron English, and graffiti artist such as Cope, and Ghost. But over the past couple of years, due to the explosion of Funko in the toy industry, Toy Tokyo decided to devote a whole shop-inisde-a-shop to help feature the growing selection. Toy Tokyo is the few remaining brick-and-mortar toy stores in NYC, but also maintains a solid position of online sales at toytokyo.com
